Petalotype stands for a transferred image on the petal of a flower (here you see examples mainly on Papaver Rhoeas petals) through exposure to sunlight over weeks. This is an organic alternative photography process akin to chlorophyll printmaking process with which I started experimenting during the lockdown. More specifically, the applied method consists of the placement of a positive image directly to a live petal which then is exposed to sunlight which bleaches the image onto its surface naturally.
I haven't found any other examples of images made specifically on a petal, therefore I gave it this name.
The result is extremely delicate and fragile, even more than the leaf prints.
My first petalotype was made on the 12th of May 2020.
